Two questions people answer upon meeting someone in person, “Can I trust this person?” and “Can I respect this person?”
At Creative Focus Photography Studio, we specialise in Corporate Photography, focusing on business and corporate clients. Every day, people are being bombarded on social media where everything and everybody needs to be perfect. This has resulted in people thinking that beauty tends to be the most important thing, outweighing everything else. This has even crept into the world of LinkedIn, which is usually about the corporate and business world.
A corporate headshot photograph is obviously a subject that several people will have an opinion about. Bear in mind, the number of so-called “perfect” images on Facebook, the whole idea of what is a perfect corporate headshot can be a matter of personal taste and preference and can be highly influenced by today’s society and social media.
A good example of this is for sample is maybe a business owner turned real estate agent. She had many beautiful images to choose from and narrowed it down to two images. Her true purpose was to show credibility and professionalism in her photo.
The first image, while looking great, did not address the purpose of the use of the photograph. This is where we start the questions. Perfection or beauty should not be based solely on what we think is best but more importantly, on a target audience that will perceive the photo. Within the business and corporate industry, the issue of trustworthiness and believability come into play. Try and put yourself into the shoes of your potential audience or clientele and get an understand of what they expect.
The second image truly showcased her personality and delivered the right voice for her brand. People will tend to hire your business or you as an individual if they can believe in you as a person. Be true to your inner soul and make sure the focus is on your best traits in a photograph, might be your eyes, your smile, or the way you carry yourselves.
Modelling Photoshoot vs Headshots?
There is quite a difference between modelling photoshoot and a headshot photoshoot. Knowing what they are is important for people who want to get their photo taken.
Model photoshoots are generally used in the fashion industry where a model poses for a photographer to showcase their talent and look. The main purpose of modelling photography is to sell and represent a brand or a product for a business. When it comes to posing for a model photoshoot, there is general more flexibility in the way the photography is taken, and more creativity is explored and used.
While on the other hand, a typical headshot photo shoot is usually a tightly cropped photo, or three quarters shot, not leaving much room for posing. They are usually used for business purposes, so it’s best that the subject, appears professional and dressed suitable for the industry that they are in. As an example, actors need professional headshots so they will stand out to casting directors.
