Our photography hire studio is suitable for beginner photographers or a seasoned professional. We have also for hire studio lighting, backgrounds, reflectors, fans for hire.
The lighting in the studio is the most critical part of any photography session. If a client can’t see what is in their photograph, it doesn’t matter how well-composed or crisp the photograph is; they will reject your work regardless of how well it is composed or sharp.
You don’t have to have the most up-to-date camera model to take amazing shots, but you do need to be aware of the limitations of your camera so that you can work around them. If you have an older model camera that does not perform well in low light circumstances, arrange your photo sessions during the brightest daylight hours possible.
It is possible for images shot during daytime hours to turn out poorly if the camera settings are not properly adjusted. What newer photographers mistakenly refer to as “bad light” is actually a result of exposure issues. Consider devoting some time to understanding how the variables of ISO, shutter speed, and aperture interact to produce properly exposed photographs.
Once you have mastered the exposure settings, you should pay attention to how the available light interacts with your subject.
Studio lighting kits can be as complex or as simple as the designer desires. Continuous lighting kits are designed to be used to light up a specific portion of your subject, resulting in a variety of distinct effects.
To be clear, many small-scale business photo studio setups consist of simply one or two lights or a light stand, rather than a continuous lighting kit. Read on for more information.
Types of lighting
Lighting from the front, or positioning the subject so that the light is shining precisely in front of the person or object, draws out the detail in the subject. Why? Because the light is coming directly from the front, the shadows fall immediately behind the item, and there are no shadows in the photograph to obscure any important information. Front lighting is the most straightforward to photograph; nevertheless, it might appear flat or monotone at times.
Side lighting, or positioning the light source or the subject so that the light is reflected from the side, combats the monotonous appearance of front lighting by adding depth and shadows to the image. When it comes to side lighting, it is still very straightforward — you just have to be attentive and monitor how the shadows fall.
A 90-degree angle is not required for side lighting, and even modest alterations can have a significant impact on the way shadows are cast. In situations where you are shooting with side lighting, pay attention to where the shadows fall – slight alterations in the subject’s position might provide more intriguing or appealing shadows.
Backlighting is the most difficult of the lot to master, so continue with care. You’ll end up with a silhouette if you don’t use a light modulator or don’t understand how to use manual mode. Backlighting situations, such as when the subject is placed directly in front of a window, are frequently best avoided by beginning photographers.
Keep it in mind, though, because after you’ve gotten comfortable with manual mode, backlighting can provide some stunning shots. Many items, such as leaves and flowers, appear to glow when illuminated by backlighting. Additionally, backlighting may give photographs a beautiful pop and create an almost halo look.
Using a mounted flash
An on-camera flash is a convenient tool for bringing additional light into your scene. There are numerous applications for these types of flashes. In event photography, such as wedding photography, they allow you to keep your ISO low while preserving movement in your picture as well as more creative applications, such as adding color to a scene through the use of gels.
